Yonkers Police Investigating Allegations Involving Paideia School 15 Staff Member

Students reported that a staff member appeared to be taking photographs during a gym class. The employee has been reassigned while Yonkers police investigate.

Yonkers police are investigating allegations involving a staff member at Paideia School 15 after students raised concerns that the employee may have been taking photographs of female students during gym class.

The incident was reported to school administrators on September 25, when several middle school students approached the school's principal and said they had seen a staff member with a phone out during gym class, according to Yonkers Public Schools. The students believed the staff member was taking photographs and expressed concern about what they had observed.

School administrators subsequently met with both the students and the staff member as part of an initial review of the allegations. The matter was then referred to the Yonkers Police Department for further investigation.

The staff member has since been reassigned to non-teaching duties in another building while the investigation continues. Yonkers Public Schools has not publicly identified the employee or disclosed the staff member's position at Paideia School 15.

Parents were also notified of the incident in a letter from the school's principal.

Yonkers police confirmed that the school district referred the matter to the department and said its Intelligence Unit is investigating. Police have not released additional details, citing the active investigation.

As of October 5, no charges have been announced, and authorities have not said that the students' allegations have been substantiated.

The investigation comes as Paideia School 15, a public school serving students from pre-K through eighth grade, continues its regular school year. The school is located on Westchester Avenue in Yonkers.

The Yonkers Post will update this story if additional information is released by police or Yonkers Public Schools.
