Yonkers Police Warn Residents of New Scam Targeting Planning & Development Department
The Yonkers Police Department is warning residents about a new scam involving fake invoices sent by individuals impersonating the City of Yonkers Planning & Development Department.
According to police, thieves have been sending fraudulent emails and letters featuring the department’s logo and contact information in an effort to trick recipients into paying bogus fees. Officials stressed that the legitimate Planning & Development Department does not send invoices to anyone.
“This is a scam,” the department stated. “If you receive any correspondence that appears to be from the Planning & Development Department and includes an invoice, do not respond and do not send money.”
Residents who receive suspicious communications are encouraged to contact the Planning & Development Department directly to verify authenticity.
