Trump Organization Blasts Yonkers Mayor Over Bronx Casino Claims

The Trump Organization is rejecting claims by Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano linking the company to MGM Resorts’ recent withdrawal from the race for a downstate casino license.

Earlier this week, Mayor Spano suggested that Bally’s proposed casino at the former Trump Links golf course in The Bronx could benefit from MGM’s surprise exit from the licensing process. Spano also noted that Donald Trump reportedly stands to gain an additional $115 million under his existing agreement with Bally’s if a casino is eventually built at the site.

In a statement, the Trump Organization dismissed any connection to MGM’s decision, calling the mayor’s comments “false, irresponsible, and pure speculation.”

“The Trump Organization had absolutely nothing to do with MGM’s decision to withdraw its bid for a casino license in Yonkers,” a spokesperson said. “MGM has publicly explained that their withdrawal was based on changing competitive and economic factors, including the state’s reduction of the proposed license term from 30 years to 15.”

The statement went on to criticize Mayor Spano directly, suggesting he “focus on improving his own city” rather than making “false and unsubstantiated allegations.”
