Jury Convicts Yonkers Man in Alleyway Attack on 75-Year-Old

A Westchester County jury has found Vladimir Puentes, 51, of Yonkers, guilty of robbing and injuring a 75-year-old man during an alleyway attack last year.

After a 16-day trial, jurors returned guilty verdicts on first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, and second-degree assault. Sentencing is set for December 9.

Prosecutors said the assault and robbery occurred in an alley off Riverdale Avenue near Radford Street. Following an investigation by the Yonkers Police Department, Puentes was taken into custody.

Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace said the case underscores the office’s commitment to protecting older residents, commending Yonkers police for a swift, thorough investigation and thanking the prosecution team for securing the conviction.
