Protesters Gather in Downtown Yonkers to Oppose Proposed ICE Detention Facilities

Protesters gathered in downtown Yonkers on Saturday to oppose proposed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centers.

Organizers said the rally was meant to show growing opposition to large-scale detention facilities, including those proposed in Chester and Brooklyn.

Demonstrators held signs and called for an end to immigration enforcement activity in local communities.

The event focused on concerns raised by organizers about the impact of enforcement on immigrant families. Participants highlighted issues related to fear in neighborhoods, as well as immigrant rights, community protection, and accountability.

Multiple community groups took part in the demonstration, including the Yonkers branch of the NAACP.
