League of Women Voters to Host Yonkers City Council President Debate on October 22

The League of Women Voters of the Rivertowns will host a virtual Candidate Forum for the Yonkers City Council President race on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The forum, held via Zoom, will feature incumbent Lakisha Collins-Bellamy (Democrat) and challenger Dean T. Politopoulos (Republican/Conservative). Viewers can register to watch live at https://bit.ly/YonkersCCPres.

How to Submit Questions

Audience participation will not be allowed during the live event. Instead, questions for the candidates must be submitted in advance either at the time of registration or by emailing info@lwv-rivertowns.org.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday, October 19 at 9:00 a.m. Questions will be reviewed by a League committee and provided to the moderator before the debate begins.

Accessibility

In partnership with Disability Rights New York, the forum will include live American Sign Language interpretation. The recording will be posted afterward on the League’s YouTube channel (LWV Rivertowns), as well as on their website (www.lwv-rivertowns.org) and Facebook page. YouTube’s closed captions will allow viewers to translate the debate into multiple languages.
